Tourist web services development

Case for developing a web service for a tour operator in Finnish Lapland from web studio Origami

Scandinavian Travel Group Oy

A travel company – the host tour operator from Finnish Lapland, ScandinavianTravelGroupOy, applied with an order to develop and promote a new trilingual website.

The next task after the development of the site was to provide information to users on the customer's product and related topics.

The main purpose of the GoSTG website is to sell tourist services, packages and the placement of additional services of the customer. These data helped us to form the main clusters of the target audience:

1. Tourists who are planning their holidays. About 30% of tourists are British. They purchase tours six months before the trip.

2. Tourists who arrived in the customer's region of activity (currently Lapland).

3. Other travel companies seek services and/or accommodation offered by the customer.

Task

1. Creating a user-friendly management system for the internal structure of the site (CMS) for future buyers.

2. The implementation of booking products and informing about the products themselves is based on the existing Bokun CRM program, with the help of which product information is initially integrated into the structure of the site.

The site should be a selling service, user-friendly and intuitive.

The main functions of the site:

  •  informing about the products, directions, services of the customer, as well as about the customer himself through the open, and closed section of the site.
  •  sales tool - bringing the user to booking products through various menu scenarios.
  •  multilingualism.

Design

1. It is supposed to look modern, technological, bright enough, and at the same time have a concise design. The information should be easily perceived.

2. The design could be flat, with an easy layout, and not overloaded with heavy and unnecessary elements and arrays of text. The site should be fast and easy to download.

3. The design should be adaptive to the basic dimensions of mobile devices.

4. Secondary design elements are light and do not distract from the main visual component, which are photos and products in the form of widgets.

5. All text elements are typed in a modern, popular font from a set of standard web fonts, so that they can be made into text, not a picture, when making up.

Development on CMS or Framework

Software developers have implemented the following tasks:

- output of site pages in the form of various functional typeset blocks with editable information.

- placement and convenient editing of any basic content (text, photos, videos, text overlay on photos, including hyperlinks and photo effects).

- the ability to edit and display the entire content of the site in several language versions.

- interaction with the customer's current CRM program – Bokun, in the form of an information, and media shell through the integration API for displaying CRM system products on the customer's website, as well as other sections of the CRM program in the form of frames.

- convenient functionality of the site for the user, leading to book products uploaded to the site through the CRM system.

- work with feedback forms, live chats, subscriptions, social networks.

- administration of adaptive versions of the site.

- design of a closed section of the site accessible to authorized users of the site – non-personalized access to the information of the closed section.

We took into account the customers requests and implemented the possibility for new users to register and manage the basic elements of their account (reminder/password reset, memorizing credentials), and for the customer to work with these credentials.

Site Architecture

The final stage was the integration of Bokun.

CRM Bokun

1. The product is formed by the customer manually in Bokun and is automatically displayed on the website in the necessary sections using widgets.

2. The booking is made by the user at the website address and goes to Bokun:

- for simple (direct) users using Bokun widgets, search for products through the site menu system.

- for professional users (agents) through the Bokun internal section for registered users, a direct link from the site to this section of Bokun opens as a frame on the site.

3. Booking goes from CRMBokun to CRMTravius via API integration (implemented solution).

Migration and launch of the project

The result of the project development.

The main result was the full implementation of the project according to the client's idea. The site meets all the functionality inherent in it, and also implements a business idea - a convenient search and booking of tours in Finnish Lapland. And a satisfied customer is the best advertisement!

As a result of successful development cooperation, the client decided to extend the cooperation and conclude an agreement for SEO, SMM promotion and implementation of a new apartment rental project.
